(Substack is not letting me add audio at the moment, so there is not a recording available. I will keep checking and will add it as I am able.)
Sometimes.
Even when night has fallen.
Even when thunder rumbles in the distance.
Sometimes.
Even when we would rather it did not.
Adventure calls.
And we are asked to cross a threshold.
Into the mystery itself.
We can say no.
Of course.
And wrap ourselves back up in the safety of our beds.
There is nothing wrong with that.
Trulytrulytruly.
The answer to every invitation is not yes.
Only you know what sings its way up your spine.
Only you know.
What is for you.
But.
If you were to find yourself standing.
In the dark.
Ready to say yes.
Know
That there is no better place to begin.
Because it is with the darkness.
That we can hear the stories told.
We can feel the shiver of the walk.
We can trust the knowing of our pulse.
Without all the signs and signals trying to get us to move the ways we have been taught.
We get to learn the language of the untamed everything.
We get to hear the promptings of the mystery.
And so it was that I stood.
Under the night sky, basking in the nothingness of the new moon.
The wind wrapped around my legs.
My breath.
It brought with it whispers.
Only to be heard when I let myself stand still enough.
“How?”
My own voice.
My own question.
Given back to me.
“How?”
But now.
I knew.
Through.
That was the only answer.
Beyond my porch is a threshold.
Fashioned of rebar, wound with beads and magic.
I had to cross through.
Once on the other side.
There might be another question.
Another answer.
Or simply more through.
I could not know.
Would not know.
Until I was willing.
And I was so very willing.
So with a breath.
I stepped through.
Out of the corner of my eye.
The Library of Wonders and Curiosities sat.
An curious light shining from within.
What was waiting for me?
That is a tale for another day.
With love and fire~
Jo Anna
P.S. The full moon clearing work was beautiful. Many doors opened with ease. And the fire took the rest.
thank you 😊
