I have it on very good authority that a Wish Night approaches.
And I, as the Resident Something or Other at the Museum of the Mystery am, apparently, in charge of ushering it forth. I am still learning exactly what that all entails.
If you have never heard of Wish Night before, you are in good company.
I have come to understand that Wish Night is a holiday of wants and wonders.
It is when we whisper our wishes to the stars.
And, it is when the stars whisper back.
While not every Wish Night wish is granted.
Every wish is held in wonder.
And even if our wish does not come true the way we hope it will…
Keys and maps and clues are sent our way to assist in our grand adventure.
Wish Night follows no calendar as far as I can tell.
It arrives when it does.
Lore has it that Wish Night happens when it is most needed.
When it would serve for wishes to be cast.
So for those who celebrate to seek and see the possibilities that live beyond the present moment, bleak and chaotic as it may seem.
There is a shimmer to the air that grows, alerting us to Wish Night’s eventual presence.
The stars are consulted by those who know how to do such things.
Omens and signs point the way to the exact date or dates.
And then, of course, there is the Market.
Wish Night Markets make themselves known as the holiday approaches.
They were traditionally found in forest clearings with music and sumptuous aromas guiding people towards them.
In more modern times, they have been known to appear in cobblestone alleyways, abandoned theaters, and even the occasional hotel lobby.
The Market serves to prepare people to cast their wishes.
The stalls are filled with tokens of magic, guiding us to clarity.
To hope.
To a vision of more than is before our eyes.
The Wish Night Goddess offers messages.
The Oracle grants words.
Even the moon shows up with wisdom of its own.
While I do not yet know all there is to know about Wish Night, I do know this:
1. During Wish Night, 3 wishes are cast. One for yourself, one for another, one for the world.
2. Wish Night will be happening at some point during the week of the March 16th.
3. The Market promises to be quite a spectacle.
If you are in Asheville, NC during Wish Night I will be filling you in on the details as soon as they become clear.
For everyone else, please begin considering your wishes. More on how to cast them will be coming soon.
With love and stars,
Jo Anna
